ZBrush

Описание интересной программки, объединяющей 2D и 3D

Many people new to ZBrush ask the question, is it 2D or 3D? Until ZBrush, digital art programs have always fallen into one of those two categories.

On one hand, there are 2D programs, such as paint programs and image editors. Artists who use these programs are accustomed to having complete control over every single pixel of their artwork. 2D programs are usually designed to be intuitive and easy to use. Users simply select their brushes from virtual palettes and paint on a virtual canvas, and whatever they create appears while they create it.

On the other hand, there are 3D programs, such as 3D modelers. Artists who use these are accustomed to letting the computer take care of certain details of their artwork, such as materials, textures, lighting and shadow effects. Users typically create and arrange their models in virtual space, viewing them in a wireframe or preview mode, then stop working while the computer renders the artwork.

ZBrush combines the best of both worlds in a unique, blended 2D/3D environment. Designed to be intuitive, simple, and fun to use, ZBrush provides you with powerful painting and sculpting tools which are simply selected from palettes and brushed onto the canvas. A real-time rendering engine provides 3D details so you can see your artwork take shape while you create it.
