§             The Photo Explorer 8 requires the Microsoft® DirectX® module for slideshow CD authoring. Since NT4 doesn't support Direct X, Photo Explorer cannot be used in that platform. PhotoImpact Album's burning function is also not supported in Windows NT4.

§             When using PhotoImpact Album to burn album files on DVD:
On Windows® 2000 and Windows® XP, if a DVD is mastered as multi-border (multi-session), and if there is more that 4 gigabytes (GB) of data in any combination of borders, only the first border is readable. (This is a known limitation in Windows® 2000 and Windows® XP.)

§             64 MB RAM (256 MB recommended)

§             CD-ROM drive

§             True Color or Hi-Color display adapter with 800X600 resolution or above

§             450 MB available hard disk space for program files and content files

Installing/Uninstalling Ulead PhotoImpact XL ESD

Once you have installed the main PhotoImpact XL ESD program, you can use Smart Download to download the rest of the program modules. You will find Smart Download under the Help menu. This mechanism enables you to download modules whenever you need them. And, you only need to download them once since they become part of the main program.

In you have a firewall, Smart Download may not function properly. In this case, go to the Ulead Web site at the URL, http://www.ulead.com/pi/esd.htm, to download the program modules.

You can uninstall PhotoImpact via Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

What's New in Ulead PhotoImpact XL

§             ExpressFix™ - Removes the guesswork from fixing common photo problems such as improper color, unbalanced exposure, and out-of-focus photos. Through a step-by-step interface, the wizard analyzes photos and automatically presents various options to fix them.

§             High Dynamic Range - Gives a photo a super-realistic quality by combining different copies of photos and uses the different exposure levels to extend its perceivable tonal range. Even shots taken without a tripod can be used with this feature. Its Image Registration function automatically maps locations of different shots and aligns them to get a perfectly merged photo.

§             Remove Color Cast - Brings out the true colors in a photo by removing any color incorrectly dominating an image. Users can manually adjust the color of a selected area or object, minimizing or eliminating the undesired color from their photo.

§             Multivision Filter - Lets users encircle a single image with numerous reproductions of that same image. The user has several patterns to choose from, and can create from 3 to 25 identical images, which produces artistic results.

§             Moon Effect - Lets users easily place a truly realistic view of the moon into an image, an effect that even darkroom experts find difficult to achieve.

§             Sunlight Effect - Brings out vivid colors on photos that were taken on less than perfect days. A must-have tool for landscape photographers.

§             Diffraction Filter - Adds more life and color to photos by adorning them with rainbows.

§             Photo Explorer 8 - A complete management tool integrated with PhotoImpact used to organize and search your collection of photo, video and audio clips. It also provides convenient sharing functions that allow you to create slideshow CDs and DVDs that can be played on consumer DVD players.

§             Learning Materials - Provides in-depth video tutorials which make learning PhotoImpact fast and easy.
